The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
provides patient care in all aspects of these specialties:

The division comprises two separate geographic campuses, Halifax, Nova Scotia and Saint John, New Brunswick.

The Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery in Halifax is Dr. Justin Paletz. Dr. Paletz is also the Head of the Nova Scotia Firefighters Burn Care Unit. Dr. Paletz has added expertise in Microvascular surgery and Hand surgery.
Dr. Steven Morris has added qualifications in Hand surgery, Microsurgery, and Research. His main areas of research include the anatomical basis of tissue transfer, surgical flap physiology, biomechanical aspects of Hand surgery and clinical research.
Dr. Winston Parkhill is the Senior Plastic Surgeon in Halifax. He remains actively involved in Undergraduate and Residency teaching. His interests are Hand surgery and Reconstructive Plastic surgery.
Dr. Richard Bendor-Samuel has additional training in Craniomaxillofacial surgery and Cleft Lip and Palate surgery.
Dr. Ken Wilson is the
Chief of Surgery at the IWK Grace Health Centre. He has specialized training in Pediatric Plastic Surgery and Microvascular surgery.
Dr. Jason Williams joined the Plastic Surgery staff in August, 2006. Dr. Williams has additional training in Reconstructive Microsurgery and an interest in Breast Reconstructive surgery and undergraduate education.

Dr. Don Lalonde is the Chief of Plastic Surgery in Saint John. He has played an active role in Resident Education and has a strong research interest. He is the Chair of the RCPSC specialty committee in Plastic Surgery and he is a Director of the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He Research interest is "wide awake" Hand surgery.
Dr. Gerry Sparkes is actively involved in Residency teaching and all aspects of Plastic Surgery. He has a special interest in Hand surgery and Cleft Lip surgery.
Dr. James O'Brien has added expertise in Peripheral Nerve Surgery. He has significant experience in all aspects of this including Brachial Plexus surgery.
Dr. Geoff Cook has added qualification in Hand, Upper Limb surgery and Microsurgery.
A major component of Plastic Surgery Residency at Dalhousie includes rotations through the Saint John Campus. This provides an excellent experience for the Residents with the participation of all the Plastic Surgery staff in a smaller city.
All Plastic Surgeons in this Division are Board certified. The Plastic Surgeons have additional training in all of the various subspecialties of Plastic Surgery. |
